Clean Electric Founders (L-R): Akash Gupta, Abhinav Roy, Ankit Joshi
We are pleased to announce that our portfolio company, Clean Electric, has successfully raised $6 million in a Series A funding with participation from InfoEdge, pi Ventures, and Lok Capital, alongside our continued support. We extend our congratulations to Akash, Abhinav, and the entire Clean Electric team on this significant milestone.
Progress Since Seed Investment:
Since our seed investment in 2022, the team has demonstrated exceptional perseverance, resilience, and innovation in developing safe and efficient direct liquid-cooled battery packs for EV and energy storage applications.
Clean Electric has progressed from laboratory prototypes to commercializing the first direct liquid-cooled battery packs in the Indian EV ecosystem. With Kalaari’s seed funding, the company established its first assembly line, expanding from its Bhopal origins.
The company’s patented architecture incorporates immersion cooling and a proprietary smart temperature modulation algorithm, allowing precise control over the battery’s thermal state. This innovation enables higher charging rates without compromising battery health or range. Clean Electric has successfully commercialized its technology across various categories, including EV 2W, 3W, 4W, and stationary storage applications.
Post-Funding Roadmap:
Clean Electric aims to scale its deployments, collaborating with leading OEMs to introduce reliable fast-charging solutions to the market. Staying true to its R&D-focused DNA, the team is already developing next-generation products, including 3C/4C charging rates for the EV market. Additionally, the company has piloted its technology for stationary storage markets and plans to expand in this sector.
Clean Electric is well-positioned to set global standards for safe and efficient energy storage technology. India’s diverse climate and operating conditions provide an ideal testing ground for developing robust solutions that can be scaled internationally.
Akash Gupta, Founder and CEO of Clean Electric, commented:
“As a deep-tech company, we face numerous challenges, but we also achieve technological breakthroughs. Kalaari Capital has been an invaluable early-stage investor, supporting Clean Electric through both difficult and prosperous times. Their experience with pre-revenue deep-tech startups, coupled with the trust and autonomy they’ve given our executive team, has been crucial. We’re fortunate to have the continued support of Vani ma’am and Pranav.”
Pranav Koshal, AVP at Kalaari Capital, stated:
“We take pride in being the first backers of Akash, Abhinav, and the Clean Electric team, who have consistently demonstrated passion and commitment to innovation. Clean Electric is emerging as a leader in efficient battery and energy storage systems, which are critical for driving EV growth and facilitating the transition to green energy.”
