Gameconomy Report 2023
The smartphone boom and the internet revolution were the pivotal forces for laying the foundation of India’s gaming market, helping it grow 10x in 7 years from $300M in 2015 to $2.9B in 2022; and making it home to the world’s second largest population of gamers closing at 520M in 2022.
As a gaming hub, we are home to a robust population of 18K+ game developers, and over 700+ gaming companies, over 60% of which have only started after 2020. Multiple industry bodies have come to the fore over the last three years to propel this ecosystem, supported by a forward looking government that has been highly responsive in formalising laws and policies that can support the momentum it holds.
While this has been remarkable to say the least, we truly believe that there is a lot more for India to offer and become, and it has been exciting to witness the energy and momentum flowing through the market over the last year.
We are delighted to share #Gameconomy 2023 – a primer on India’s Gaming Opportunity. It covers our perspective on the past, present and future of this amazing industry, that we have been fortunate enough to play a role in.
