THE OPPORTUNITY
Design has evolved beyond aesthetics to become a critical business driver. The advent of Generative AI (GenAI) is now revolutionizing the field, with AI agents autonomously executing design tasks and streamlining workflows from ideation to implementation.
Kalaari Capital is proud to announce its investment in Figr, a vanguard in the GenAI design revolution. Figr is making design more accessible to the whole spectrum of design stakeholders. It helps users create, refine, and iterate on concepts seamlessly and blurs the lines between designers and non-designers. Ultimately, it wants to bridge the gap between creative vision and practical execution.
The market opportunity is compelling:
- UX investments yield a 100:1 ROI, yet only 20% of software development budgets prioritize UX design.
- 74% of users return to websites offering superior mobile UX.
- 55% of organizations struggle to establish user-centric design cultures due to time constraints.
Current design processes are laden with inefficiencies:
- Designers spend 20-30% of their time in meetings, equating to 8-12 hours weekly diverted from core work.
- Small teams undergo 5-10 iterations per project, each spanning days.
- Large teams dedicate 50-60% of their time to routine tasks, with designers spending up to 50% on repetitive actions.
GenAI is transforming designers’ roles, emphasizing prompt engineering to integrate AI capabilities. Figr leads this transformation, combining large language models (LLMs) with specialized design knowledge.
THE FOUNDING TEAM
Moksh (Co-founder and CEO) and Chirag (Co-founder and CTO) bring a potent blend of design passion and technical acumen to Figr. Their college projects revealed persistent gaps in traditional design workflows, inspiring their mission to empower designers comprehensively.
Figr emerged from their vision to unify the entire design journey, from research to production deployment, balancing creativity with efficiency in modern design processes.
Moksh, steering strategy and growth, holds a BTech in Electrical and Electronics with an Economics major from BITS Pilani (2022). His background spans product design roles and co-founding Valerio Electric, an EV startup, in 2020.
Chirag, driving technology and product development, graduated with a BTech in Computer Science from Delhi Technological University (2021). His impressive background features roles as an ML Engineer at Myntra, stints at Rakuten and Motus, and a patent with Adobe in pattern recognition.
THE UNIQUE APPROACH
AI-powered design engine built by designers for designers
Figr has adopted a cohesive approach to addressing the 0-to-1 challenge in today’s fragmented and manual design process. As a design co-pilot, instead of starting with a blank slate, designers get to input rough ideas which are converted into multiple design options. This interactive approach not only speeds up the design process but also encourages experimentation and the discovery of unexpected solutions.
What’s special about Figr is that it can refine its recommendations and adapt with each query to better meet designers’ needs. Beyond wireframe generation, it also provides tools for creating moodboards to visually input ideas for improved UI generation. The resulting designs are fluid and can be seamlessly exported to Figma.
Figr is working on proprietary AI models specially designed for UI/UX designing. They have a strong understanding of 100K+ UI screens and are creating multiple specialized AI agents for specific tasks (creating styled UI components, building design systems etc).
Figr’s rapid growth in just 12 months underscores its value proposition:
- 10K+ followers on Figma and Dribbble
- Consistent features on Product Hunt
- 75K+ signups since beta launch
- 500K+ processed queries
- 80% international user base
- Diverse clientele from freelancers to medium-sized design teams and studios
THE WAY AHEAD
This funding round propels Figr’s ambitious growth strategy:
- Accelerating scaling across core user segments
- Intensifying digital user acquisition
- Prioritizing monetization strategies
- Expanding product and engineering capabilities to enhance proprietary IP
Figr aims to become the cornerstone platform for product design teams, supporting the entire journey from ideation to production deployment. At Kalaari Capital, we’re excited to partner with Figr as they revolutionize the design process for creators worldwide.
Moksh Garg, Co-founder and CEO of Figr, articulates their mission: “Traditional design workflows are fragmented and inefficient. Figr’s vision is to unify the entire journey from design research to deployment, fostering seamless collaboration and alignment among all stakeholders.”
Sampath P., Partner at Kalaari Capital, says, “GenAI’s potential to revolutionize product development, especially in design, is immense. Figr’s blend of collective human feedback with deep personalization is transforming design into a dynamic, iterative process. We’re thrilled to support their journey in reshaping the future of product design and unlocking tremendous value for designers globally.”
